Islamic Knowledge Retreat

November 3-5, 2023 at UNC Chapel Hill

Join us in this retreat to study the Seerah (life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) with Maulana Yasar Khan

AlLah (SWT) says in the Quran:

Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often. (Surah Al-Ahzab: ayah 21)

Why Learn the Seerah (life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ)?

The Seerah is the life story of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This encapsulates not only the historical account of the Prophet’s ﷺ life, but also his character, actions, and events that transpired during his lifetime. Studying the Search covers the exploration of the history of Islam, the life and surroundings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and more.

While studying the Seerah over the weekend, we will be able to understand the history of Islam as well as the Quran and Sunnah better. The study of the Seerah will help increase our love of the Prophet ﷺ, improve our own character and relations, and strengthen our moral and faith based principles and understandings.

About the Instructor

Maulana Yasar Khan was born in Pakistan and raised in Paterson, NJ. He received impressive accolades from a young age, and due to this, he had a bright future ahead of him in secular studies, including a dual Master’s degree by the age of twenty-one and numerous scholarships from prestigious universities. However, he turned all of this down in order to pursue Islamic studies.

Maulana Yasar Khan enrolled in Jamia Al-Husnain, Indianapolis, and studied Arabic, Literature, Hadith, Tafsir, Islamic Theology, and Jurisprudence. Following this, he studied further at Darus-Salam Seminary, Chicago, where he studied the six major books of Hadith under renowned scholars.

After the completion of his own studies, Maulana Yasar Khan joined Jamia Falah-id-Darain/ICC in 2019 as a teacher and Dean of Student Affairs and was also named Youth Director due to his passion and extensive prior experience regarding public relations. In addition, he also served as a member of the Islamic Council of Dayton during this time. After two years of serving his community and teaching at Jamia Falah-id-Darain, he traveled to Turkey to start Takhassus (Specialization) in Seerah-an-Nabawiyyah and Islamic History.

Later, Maulana Yasar Khan returned to America to continue the blessed work of teaching the students of Deen and serving his community with increasing enthusiasm. Furthermore, he enrolled in the Chicago Theology Seminary in order to continue pursuing higher education in Islamic sciences under prestigious professors and luminaries. He is also currently working towards his Master’s in Education as well as presently working on many literary works, which will benefit the generations to come.
