NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1. General Body Meeting on 9/19 with FREE FOOD

InshAllah we will hold our next meeting this Wednesday at 7pm in the Union Room 3205. We will have a free Iftaar sponsored by Sister Ola Mohamed's family. Please be sure to thank them for their generosity

2. Iftaar on 9/20 (aka FREE FOOD)

The MSA will sponsor an iftaar this Thursday at 7pm in the Union Room 3206.

3. Triangle Iftaar is Sunday, Sept 23!

The annual Triangle Iftaar between UNC, NC State, and Duke MSA will be on Sunday, September 23 at 5:30 pm in the Great Hall of the Union. Please be sure to buy your tickets from any shura member. The cost is $8 for due paying members and $10 for general admission. Tickets at the door can be purchased for $12. Please try to come as this is the biggest event of the year. Alhumduhlillah, the MSA has raised approximately $40,000 in the past two years to sponsor orphans in Muslim countries. We encourage you to bring your families and friends as well.

4. Volunteer for Islamic Awareness Week!

Islamic Awareness Week is a great chance to educate others about Islam. We have the pit reserved from Sept. 24th to the 27th. Basically we will have four themed days. They are:

Basics in Islam
Muslim Women
Islamic Culture
Science in Islam

5. US - Muslim World Relations Dialogue

The Future of U.S.-Islamic World Relations
"Hope Not Hate"

The Middle East Student Forum and Americans for Informed Democracy invite you to attend "Hope Not Hate". The event will address the future of U.S.-Muslim World Relations and try to address how Muslims and non-Muslims in America can together envision a world that can successfully deal with terrorism as well as religious and ethnic prejudice. Speakers include Radwan Masoudi, President of the Center for Islam and Democracy, and Laila El-Haddad, Aljazeera reporter. After these presentations, the audience will be given the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session.

6. Summer Opportunities with SEO

WEEKLY REMINDERS:

1. Daily Prayer Room

The Daily Prayer Room will be Room 3203 everyday for the semester, unless otherwise stated. The room is available from 12pm-5pm daily.

You can also look at the Union Activities Board each day to verify the room number.

2. Jummah on campus

Jummah prayer is held at the UNC Hospital Chapel at 1:15. Please plan to be on time and turn your cell phones on silent before entering the prayer area.

3. Taraweeh on Campus

Taraweeh prayer will be held on campus at 9:30 pm. Please meet between Teague and Parker dorms and someone will let you into the building.
